TRX Suspension training is something that is new to me and my fitness routine. Invented by a Navy Seal less than 10 years ago as a way to stay in peak condition while waiting for orders in less than ideal locations with no equipment or training space, it has become the favorite of many an athlete and weekend warrior in gyms and studio’s across the country. What pulled me into it’s web was it’s ability to laser focus onto my weaknesses in my stabilizer muscles and very quickly strengthen those muscles so that I got rid of a nagging back issue that I’d been dealing with for as long as I could remember. As a massage therapist and pilates instructor you don’t exactly use perfect posture while working and no matter what I did I couldn’t correct it! Until now! In TRX training you use your body weight and gravity as your “equipment” and changes in stability can increase or decrease the intensity of the work. Do not be intimidated by this! I thought I was as strong as an ox after all my years of pilates and boy was I wrong–we all have to start out at our own level, and TRX enables you to do that. It does not matter what anyone else is doing in class with you, you work at your own pace and intensity. If you are bored with your current workout or need something else to spice up your routine please give this a try, you won’t be disappointed!
